Intended learning outcomes
- Identify and solve linear ordinary differential equations of higher order and 1st order homogeneous linear systems with constant coefficients.
- Develop basic phase plane diagrams and analyse the qualitative behavior of linear systems.
- Apply the Laplace transform to solve differential equations with discontinuous or nondifferentiable inputs.
- Analyse periodic phenomena, using Fourier series, and extend the concepts to non-periodic phenomena, through the Fourier method and Fourier transform.
- Model and solve initial values problems and boundary value problems with Fourier and Laplace methods, and being able to make the associated critical analysis.
